Sol & Strand – Optimizing a Holiday Home Booking Experience

Sol & Strand is one of Denmark’s largest holiday home rental providers, with more than 7,000 privately owned cottages and holiday apartments across the country.

When they first approached us, their in-house designer had already created and implemented several pages for their website. However, they needed a design partner to refine the UX/UI, ensure technical feasibility, and secure visual consistency across the platform.

My Role

I built on the existing design framework, creating additional pages and new functionalities in close collaboration with our front-end developers. My focus was on improving the overall user experience—making the booking journey more intuitive and seamless while maintaining a consistent design language throughout.

Impact

The collaboration helped Sol & Strand strengthen their digital platform, making it easier for users to find and book holiday homes while supporting the brand’s position as one of Denmark’s leading vacation rental providers.

Search by area, city or a specific holiday home

Navigation with a mega menu

Due to the deep menu structure, there was a need for a clear and accessible way to navigate multiple levels of content. At the same time, it was important to highlight current campaigns and special offers.

Flexible Search Results for Users

A key part of the Sol & Strand user experience was making it simple and intuitive for guests to find the exact holiday home that matched their criteria—whether by date, price, location, amenities, or a wide range of other filters.

Detailed Product Pages

Beyond search filters, it was essential to present all relevant details about each property in a way that appealed both to exploratory users—encouraging them to browse and discover—and to action-oriented users, who needed a straightforward path to booking.
