Making waves online — Digital experience for Nordsøen Oceanarium
Nordsøen Oceanarium is one of Northern Europe’s largest aquariums, located on the Danish west coast. They wanted a modern and responsive website that could better reflect the scale and atmosphere of their physical space, a place full of life, color, and movement.
The main focus of the redesign was the visitor experience, using large immersive visuals, clear navigation, and an intuitive flow that makes it easy to plan a visit, explore exhibitions, and learn more about marine life. The design prioritizes emotional impact and accessibility across all devices, ensuring that families and tourists can find what they need quickly and effortlessly.
Alongside the website, I refined the overall visual identity by introducing a refreshed color palette inspired by the ocean and a new typographic direction that adds warmth and modernity. Together, these updates brought coherence and freshness to the brand’s online presence.
Impact
The new digital identity helped Nordsøen Oceanarium strengthen its online appeal, increase user engagement, and make it easier for visitors to plan their trip. By uniting design and storytelling, the website now mirrors the same sense of wonder guests experience when they step inside the aquarium.
